PYI recommends the PSS bellows and the two “O” rings inside the stainless steel rotor (SS Rotor) be changed every seven years. Their standard is based on time, not engine hours as the bellows are under pressure and over time they loose their elasticity. A dry bilge is dependent on steady pressure being applied to the mating surfaces between the SS Rotor and the Carbon Stator by the bellows.

Stephen Hill, owner of NT37-199, decided to tackle this project on his Nordic Tug, Tug’n. He has documented this project, including photos, in an Adobe PDF file. You can download the file by clicking on the image to the right.
